Tako produces raised Spot UV business cards through our specialty finishing partner, and we manage, proof and quality-check every job from our South Perth shop. The card is 450gsm, velvet laminated both sides, printed full colour front and back, with your raised gloss applied to the elements you mark. Estimated production time is 5-7 business days from artwork approval. Collect from the shop or have them delivered.

What do raised Spot UV business cards cost?

Pricing is shown upfront, no quote request needed. Raised Spot UV cards start at $235.20 for 250 (GST inclusive), and the price per card comes down as the quantity climbs: $280.00 for 500, $371.20 for 1000 and $555.20 for 2000. Rounded corners add a small amount per run. Every price on the page includes GST.

What is raised Spot UV?

Raised Spot UV is a specialty finish where a clear, high-gloss coating is applied to selected parts of a card and then raised, so those areas sit up off the surface in three dimensions. Ours goes over a 450gsm velvet-laminated card, so you get a soft matte background with sharp, tactile gloss on the elements that matter. It is different from a flat spot gloss, which sits level with the card. This one you can feel.

How to set up your artwork for raised Spot UV

The raised gloss is marked on its own page. Supply one PDF with three pages: your front, your back, then a raised layer. On that third page, fill the areas you want raised and glossy with 100% K, which is solid black made from cyan 0, magenta 0, yellow 0, black 100, in exactly the same position as it appears on your artwork so the two line up. That black does not print as ink, it simply tells the finishing equipment where to lay the raised gloss. Keep the raised areas to bold, solid shapes like a logo or large text, since very fine lines and small text do not hold the effect. Not sure how to build that page? Raised Spot UV or foil for your accent?

Both finishes sit on the same velvet-laminated card, so the choice is about the effect. Raised Spot UV is a clear, raised gloss in your own artwork colours, a subtle, three-dimensional shine you feel as much as see. Our foil business cards instead press a flat metallic foil, silver, gold, colour or holographic, onto your design for a brighter, reflective hit. Choose raised for understated texture, foil for metallic impact. If you would rather the same luxe card with no accent at all, the plain velvet card is the quieter option.
