Most foil business cards come in silver or gold and stop there. Ours give you four foils: silver, gold, colour and holographic, so you can match the finish to your brand rather than settle for whatever the printer offers. The foil is raised and metallic, pressed onto the elements you choose over an ultra-smooth 450gsm velvet card, so it catches the light and sits up off the surface. Every job is proofed and managed from our South Perth shop.

Tako produces foil business cards through our specialty finishing partner, and we manage, proof and quality-check every job from our South Perth shop. The card is 450gsm, velvet laminated both sides, printed full colour front and back, with your foil applied to the elements you mark. Choose the 89 x 54mm rectangle or a 65 x 65mm square. Estimated production time is 5-7 business days from artwork approval. Collect from the shop or have them delivered.

What do foil business cards cost?

Pricing is shown upfront, no quote request needed. Silver and gold foil on the standard 89 x 54mm card starts at $278.80 for 250 (GST inclusive), colour foil from $344.00 and holographic from $353.60, all coming down in price per card as the quantity climbs. The 65 x 65mm square starts at $399.00 for 250. Rounded corners on the rectangle add a small amount per run, and every price on the page includes GST.

What is a foil business card?

It is a business card with a thin layer of metallic or coloured foil pressed onto selected parts of the design and raised, so those areas sit up off the surface and catch the light. Ours go over a 450gsm velvet-laminated card, and you choose from silver, gold, colour or holographic foil. The foil is applied to the front, over full-colour printing on both sides.

How to set up your artwork for foil

The foil is marked on its own page. Supply one PDF with three pages: your front, your back, then a foil layer. On that third page, fill the areas you want foiled with 100% K, which is solid black made from cyan 0, magenta 0, yellow 0, black 100, in exactly the same position as it appears on your front artwork so the two line up. That black does not print as ink, it simply tells the finishing equipment where to press the foil. Foil is applied to the front only, and it works best on bold, solid shapes like a logo or large text, since very fine lines and small text do not hold it. Not sure how to build that page? Foil or raised Spot UV for your accent?

Both finishes are raised accents on the same velvet-laminated card, so the choice is about the effect. Foil is metallic and reflective, in silver, gold, colour or holographic, a bright hit that draws the eye. Our raised Spot UV cards instead add a clear, raised gloss in your own artwork colours, a subtler, more understated shine. Choose foil for metallic impact, raised Spot UV for quiet texture. Either way you get the same thick velvet card underneath.
