A2 (420 x 594mm) suits interior walls and retail displays; A1 (594 x 841mm) is the standard for events, presentations and site notices; A0 (841 x 1189mm) is exhibition scale. As a rule of thumb, viewers should be able to read your headline from the distance they'll actually stand - which is why poster resolution needs only 150dpi at final size, not the 300dpi of handheld print.

A 150-200gsm satin or matt stock is the standard poster paper - heavy enough to hang flat, with a finish that reads well under lighting without glare. Gloss lifts photographic posters but reflects badly under downlights, so for anything wall-mounted in an office or venue, satin is the safer call. Yes - plan printing is its own discipline: black-and-white line work on lightweight bond paper at A1 or A2, priced for the multiple copies a site or approval process actually needs. Supply plans as PDF at the drawn scale - never "fit to page", which silently rescales every dimension on the sheet.

Most standard poster jobs are turned around within 3-5 business days from artwork approval, and shorter runs can often move faster - ask if you're against an event date. Artwork wants 3mm bleed and, for anything photographic, images at 150dpi minimum at the final printed size.
