Are recycled business cards actually recyclable?
Ours are. Two things usually stop a "recycled" card from being recycled again: the stock is only part recycled, and it has a plastic laminate bonded to it. Our card is 100% recycled Impact board, FSC certified, and we leave it unlaminated, so there is no plastic film to separate and it can go back into the recycling stream at the end of its life.
Recycled or matte laminated business cards, which should I choose?
It comes down to feel versus armour. The recycled card is unlaminated, with a natural, tactile, non-reflective surface and a genuine eco story. Our matte laminated card has a plastic-based scuff-resistant laminate, so it shrugs off fingerprints and marks better, but it is not recyclable. If sustainability and a natural hand feel matter most, go recycled. If the cards will live in wallets and take a beating, look at the matte laminated card.
Will my colours look different on recycled stock?
A little, and it is worth knowing up front. Uncoated recycled board soaks up more ink than a coated or laminated card, so colours read slightly softer and more natural rather than glossy and punchy. That muted look is the stock doing its thing, not a printing error, and it is part of the appeal for understated brands. If you need bold, saturated colour, a coated or laminated card will hold it better.
Will an unlaminated card mark or scuff more easily?
It is less armoured than a laminated card, yes. A laminate is essentially a thin plastic shield, and without it the surface is more open, so heavy handling can mark it over time. That is the honest trade for a natural, recyclable card. For most business-card use it wears in gracefully, and if you know the cards will get rough treatment, a laminated finish is the sturdier pick.
Can I collect my cards from your South Perth shop?
Yes. We print in South Perth, so you are welcome to collect from the shop once your order is ready, or we can deliver. Collection is often the quickest way to get them in hand.
What stock and gsm are these printed on?
350gsm Impact Recycled, a 100% recycled and FSC certified board. It is a substantial, tactile weight that feels like a proper business card, just with a natural uncoated surface instead of a laminate.
How long do recycled business cards take?
Estimated production time: 3-5 business days. The clock starts once you have approved your final artwork, not when you place the order.
What sizes and corner options can I choose?
Two sizes: the standard 89 x 54mm rectangle, or a 65 x 65mm square. On the rectangle you can choose square or rounded (5mm) corners. The square comes with rounded corners.
Can I have different artwork on the front and back?
Yes. Every card is printed full colour on both sides, so you can put your logo and name on the front and anything you like on the back, at no extra cost.
Is the stock genuinely 100% recycled?
Yes. Impact Recycled is made from 100% recycled paper and is FSC certified, so both the recycled content and the responsible sourcing are backed by certification, not just a claim on the page.
What file do you need, and can you design it for me?
A print-ready PDF (or Illustrator file) in CMYK with 3mm bleed is ideal. Not set up for print? Send whatever you have, our team will check it, and if you would rather not wrangle the file at all, our Design Studio can create the artwork for you. Either way, a real person reviews it before we print.
